Ingredients:
- For the brownie layer:
- 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- optional (I didn’t use them): 1 cup chopped nuts
- For the blondie layer:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts (the original recipe called for walnuts, but I used pecans)
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups packed dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- one 12-ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips
