How Magic Is a Vegan Magic Shell? — Steemit

Pretty Damn magic, I’d say. Especially when it’s made with cannabis infused coconut oil and you are pairing it with vegan ice cream and vegan cookies that are also medicated. 🙂

(Whew! That’s a lot of medicating so if you are new to cannabis edibles, one of these sandwiches would contain approximately 5 doses and if you’re a seasoned “eater” I’d say scarf down the whole wonderful thing and enjoy the ride!)

Then, this magic shell or thin chocolate coating makes for a perfect triad of medicated bliss.

The added bonus is that it can behave just like a “glue”. This makes it an ideal substance to use when you need to hold other food items together or keep something from shifting around.

This glue-like feature is attributed to coconut oil which is the magic shell’s main ingredient.

Coconut oil’s seemly “magic” ability to solidify and instantly harden when it becomes cold, is attributed to the length of fat molecules which makes up its molecular structure. (File this fun fact in your “today I learned” file.)

Containing only 4 ingredients, this Magic Shell is completely suitable for any health-conscious individual. Plus, simply put, it’s delicious to eat and only takes 2 minutes to prepare.

The ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of coconut oil (melted);
  • 2 tsp of cannabis infused coconut oil (omit if you don’t want to medicate the Magic Shell);
  • 4 tbsp of cocoa powder;
  • and 3 tbsp of maple syrup.

Directions:

  • Combine the coconut oil and cocoa powder with a small whisk or fork. Make sure the cocoa is well blended and there are no clumps.
  • Add the maple syrup and blend again.

That’s it.

It’s now ready to be drizzled over anything that goes with a slightly coconut-tasting chocolate. Like this:

This is the Vegan coconut ice cream on its own with magic shell drizzled over top.

(The recipe for it can be found here: https://steemit.com/food/@rebeccaryan/vegan-coconut-ice-cream-frozen-treats-dairy-grain-nut-and-egg-free-and-can-be-medicated-with-ease )

Once the magic shell is drizzled over the ice cream, it will start to harden and within 30 seconds will be a thin, but solid chocolate coating. Even the collection of magic shell that pools in the bottom of the serving dish will harden to a solid with the coldness of the ice cream.

For other desserts like my Vegan ice cream sandwiches you’ll need to make both the ice cream and the cookie parts.

(The recipe for the cookies can be found here: https://steemit.com/food/@rebeccaryan/vegan-cookie-thins-medicated-with-platinum-banana-kush-cannabis-pulp )

Once you have all the components made, make a sandwich by using the ice cream as the filling between 2 cookies. I like to make these sandwiches and put them on a small baking sheet, lined with wax paper. I then drench each sandwich with magic shell. It will pool around the base of each sandwich, but once you put the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes, it will harden and you can easily lift the sandwiches off the wax paper and break off any unwanted chocolate. (Yeah, there’s never really any unwanted chocolate, but it’s easy to clean up the edges of any items being coated, once the shell gets cold and hardens.)
