- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon amaretto liqueur
- 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Finely grated orange zest, for garnish
- 2 tablespoons candied orange peel, finely chopped (available at candy shops and at specialty food shops)
- 1 pound cake, sliced 1/2 inch thick and cut into twelve 2 1/2-inch rounds with a cookie cutter
